Jalandhar : 09th May (Vinay) : Punjab Accountants Association 'started collecting more feathers in its cap one-after-another''. Telling in a telephonic conversation, Cashier of the TPAA, Shri Kapil Bajaj explained that during a meeting held with Punjab Finance Minister Shri Harpal Singh Cheema, where dignitaries from different Trade Associations were present, Shri Dharminder Sikka (President TPAA) strongly convassed that the Punjab Government should reconsider the strategy of implementation of Punjab State Development Tax in the State.
He told the FM that imposing heavy penalties without proper guidelines is not genuine in any case. This will lead to corruption and misrepresentation of fact. If such penalties and interests are imposed on only VAT and GST registered dealers, whereas the State Government do not have data of other small taxpayers, who have income more than Rs.2.50 lac. Moreso, general public is not properly aware of this Tax. The State Government should organize Awareness Camps among general public and advertise thourgh print and social media as well. He suggested the Finance Minister that the Government should fix a maximum limit of penalty. Our Association never say that the Government should stop collecting PSDTax, rather it may be curtailed to Rs.100/- per month. This will attract even small taxpayers too.
The Finance Minister was fully convinced and assured to give sufficient time separately to intract with the dignitaries of Punjab Accountants Association to solve other issues of Accounts Professionals.
